I'm just concerned with it being plug-n-play for everyone. I'm going to look into seeing how difficult it would be to create a working pack specifically for our server. Also, iridium is about twice as rare as emerald, but it spawns everywhere in every biome, so not so rare, just difficult to find. (why the hell did they do that?) I like that macerators are harder to get, but at the same time I'm not happy about them requiring three diamonds each. The only thing that would be different is the use of sapphires in MFSUs. Everything you're describing as being a problem in the first paragraph is actually the same with or without gregtech. So all in all, I like the MindCrack pack maybe minus Xycraft and Gregtech (or maybe just lower Gregtech to the same difficulty as the regular FTB pack).Įdit: I should mention that the main reason I haven't gotten iridium is because I haven't been using Quarrys or UU matter or turtles much.īefore FTB came out, when you either had to play tekkit, or set up your own pack and configs, the only way to get iridium was through uu matter. Mystcraft is fun to play with, but it's a server killer and I don't think it's worth it unless you have godly hardware.
Xycraft spawns way too many ores that don't have any use imo (other than aesthetics, but they are darn pretty). So, that's what I think about regular Gregtech, and I'm sure hard mode is even worse.Īs far as other mods go, I like Traincraft, Soul Shards, and Thaumcraft (!) from the Mindcrack pack. And with about 3 weeks of playing on the server I haven't even gotten a single piece of iridium yet. But now trying to make an MFSU, any of the 2nd level armor, or the machines above tier 2 are pretty much impossible to get without spending hours and hours grinding for iridium. It made those more challenging to create, but in a fun way which was a good balance.
I really liked Gregtech for the first part, up through basic machines, MFEs, and the first two tiers of solar panels. I've been playing on a FTB Beta pack server for the past few weeks which has a bit of Gregtech, but not as much as the Mindcrack pack has.
